What it is
Tirzepatide is a 39-amino-acid synthetic peptide that activates two incretin receptors — GIP and GLP-1 — from a single molecule. It is the compound that established dual agonism as more effective than GLP-1 alone in metabolic research models.

Tirzepatide carries the Eli Lilly development code LY3298176. The approved pharmaceutical forms are marketed as Mounjaro and Zepbound in the United States. How it works
The GLP-1 arm gives glucose-dependent insulin secretion, suppressed glucagon release and slowed gastric emptying. The GIP arm appears to improve how adipose tissue buffers incoming nutrients. A C20 fatty diacid chain binds serum albumin, which is what extends its half-life.

Handling and storage
Add 2ml of bacteriostatic water down the vial wall — 5mg/ml on the 10mg vial, 10mg/ml on the 20mg. Swirl until clear. Store unopened vials at −20°C, protected from light; lyophilised powder is stable for years that way and tolerates shipping at ambient temperature. Solutions prepared for analysis should be held at 2–8°C, protected from light. Repeated freeze–thaw cycles compromise sample integrity.
