What it is

KPV is the last three amino acids of α-MSH, a hormone the body already uses to regulate inflammatory signalling. Researchers isolated this fragment because it retains the anti-inflammatory activity of the parent hormone while dropping the pigmentation effects that come with the full sequence.

KPV is the tripeptide Lys-Pro-Val, the C-terminal three residues of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH). It is among the smallest peptides in routine research use.

How it works

KPV appears to act inside the cell rather than at a surface receptor, translocating to the nucleus and interfering with NF-κB — the transcription factor that switches on inflammatory gene expression. Blocking the signal there is upstream of the individual cytokines, which is why the observed effect is broad.

Why researchers order it

At three amino acids it is one of the smallest peptides in the catalog, which makes it unusually stable and easy to work with. It appears heavily in gut-barrier and dermal inflammation research, and it is the fourth component of our combination blend, alongside GHK-Cu, BPC-157 and TB-500.

Handling and storage

Add 2ml of bacteriostatic water for 5mg/ml. Short tripeptides dissolve readily and tolerate handling well, but still swirl rather than shake. Store unopened vials at −20°C, protected from light; lyophilised powder is stable for years that way and tolerates shipping at ambient temperature. Solutions prepared for analysis should be held at 2–8°C, protected from light. Repeated freeze–thaw cycles compromise sample integrity.
